Winning Post - Chester Racecourse

Winning Post ticket holders may enter the Tattersalls Enclosure, County Lawn, Winning Post and Paddock.

The Paddock is the heart of the racecourse where the Parade Ring is located. Winning Post guests are seated trackside with excellent views of the action as well as multiple TV’s showing live footage of the racing from the best angles. Here you can see the horses parade before each race, you can see the winning horse return after each race and watch the presentation ceremony in person each time. Within the enclosure, you will have access to the Refresh and Refuel Bars, both retailing a selection of premium drinks including Laurent-Perrier Champagne and quality gins.

You are free to leave the enclosure throughout the day and experience all that the paddock and Chester Racecourse has to offer. The Parade Ring and Pre-Parade Ring are in close proximity, as are the wider food and beverage concessions across the course. There are a large number of bars on both sides of the track which ticket holders can access, including on the Pavilion Lawn. The Pavilion Lawn is a lively part of the racecourse with track-side seating, pop-up bars, specialist food units and a resident DJ.

The Winning Post features live music by its own resident DJ throughout every race day.

On race days, all guest car parking is on a designated area of the Open Course.

Car parking can be purchased in advance via our website when booking your tickets, or on the day by card only. On arrival, stewards will direct you from the road outside the racecourse, right up until you park your car in its space.

Guests are politely asked not to leave their cars on-site overnight and are reminded that all property and valuables are left at the owner’s risk.

The Winning Post is located in the heart of The Paddock, next to the Parade Ring where you can view the horses before the race begins. For an up close view of the horses prior to racing, head to the Pre-Parade Ring to watch them being saddles up. The Pavilion Lawn and outside Refill and County Lawn are also great locations to view the action.

The presentation for the winning horse also takes place in the Winners Enclosure, located in the Parade Ring.

This enclosure is for adults only. No under-18’s are permitted.

There is plentiful seating available in the Winning Post with private tables (unreserved) for guests as well as general seating in the Paddock area and Pavilion Lawn on the inside of the track.

Not to miss – you are in the heart of the racecourse, it may be exciting to view one or two races from the County Lawn to soak up the atmosphere from the grandstand.

No form of furniture i.e. chairs, gazebo’s etc. are permitted in the Winning Post.

There is a good level of cover in the Winning Post as well as in the Paddock.

Racegoers are entitled to bring an umbrella with them into the Winning Post for personal cover when moving around the racecourse.

Access gates are located on ground level with paved, hard floors.

The Winning Post is located on the inside of the track with the major route a wheelchair-friendly route from the main entrance, underneath the track and into the Winning Post.

The Winning Post itself is a flat, hard standing surface.

The Winning Post enjoys two private bars for ticketholders only, ensuring quick service and a wide variety of choice. There is also an even wider choice of food/drink vendors in the Paddock area and on the Pavilion Lawn. Water refill stations available across course please refer to our full maps on course and in your racecard.

Chester Racecourse now operates on a ‘cashless’ basis at all food and drink outlets. Cash may still be used when placing bets with all on-course bookmakers.

We accept all major debit/credit cards and Apple/Android Pay at all our food and drink outlets. Contactless payment is also accepted up to the value of £100. There are no ATM machines on the racecourse, the nearest ATM machines are located on Watergate Street and Eastgate Street in Chester City Centre.

On arrival you will receive your swing badge for the day as well as a complimentary racecard by your host. There are also dedicated ChesterBET stations and staff for guests of this enclosure.
