Ryan Moore picked up where he previously left off on the opening day of the 2023 Boodles May Festival, riding two City Day winners on racing’s return to the Roodee.
The jockey, who was victorious eight times at last year’s festival, claimed the CAA Stellar Lily Agnes Conditions Stakes on Ziggy’s Phoenix for trainer Richard Hannon, then raced clear of the opposition by a stunning 22 lengths on the Aidan O’Brien-trained Savethelastdance in the Weatherbys Digital Solutions Cheshire Oaks.
Elsewhere, Frankie Dettori, in his swansong year as a jockey, was the winner of the Boodles Chester Vase on the John & Thady Gosden-trained Arrest, wearing the famous colours he won the Cheshire Oaks with on Enable in 2017.
