LOOK OUT LOUIS has form figures in Chester handicaps of 111 (3-3) and will improve for his comeback run in Listed company at Lingfield. He was well drawn when winning this race 12 months ago and makes the Tote Placepot perm despite a tricky draw in stall 7 of 8. The consistent LIHOU, nicely drawn in stall 2, has two course wins to his name and will appreciate the soft conditions. He too makes the perm, along with NYMPHADORA, who had excuses when down the field at Bath on her return to action.

Selections:

2 Look Out Louis

3 Nymphadora

8 Lihou

LORD UHTRED was poorly drawn when fifth at Newbury last time and he has the early speed to overcome a wide draw. PROMOTER fared second best of those to come from off the pace when fifth to Knight in the Horris Hill on his final juvenile outing and looks well berthed in stall 1.

Selections:

4 Promoter

7 Lord Uhtred

Aidan O’Brien has won seven of the past ten renewals (from 14 runners) and those who started as favourite (or joint-favourite) were seven from eight. Dundalk winner SAN ANONIO is his sole runner this year. LOCAL DYNASTY (stall 2) has won three of his four career starts, with the sole defeat in Chaldean’s Acomb Stakes at York when probably failing to handle the track .

Selections:

1 Local Dynasty

7 San Antonio

Veterans (6yo+) returning from a break of at least 150 days have a good record in the Ormonde Stakes and market leader HAMISH, who won this on his reappearance last term, is an obvious Placepot inclusion despite his wide draw in stall 7 of 8. It’s possible that LONE EAGLE needed the run when only fifth of seven in the John Porter on his debut for Ralph Beckett last month and he won second-time out on two occasions for the Meade yard.

Selections:

1 Hamish

6 Lone Eagle

JEAN BAPTISTE is stuck out wide in stall 13 of 14 but still might be able to get across and lead against the inside rail. His two course runs produced a win and a 9-1 third. THUNDER MAX was a shade disappointing when fourth at Haydock on last month’s comeback but the first-time blinkers could bring about improvement. He also makes the cut, along with STATELY HOME.

Selections:

9 Jean Baptiste

10 Thunder Max

11 Stately Home

Simply including the runners drawn in stalls 1, 2 and 3 would have seen use negotiate the final leg of the Placepot in the past ten years, often doubling up. All three – THE CAMDEN COLT, ROUBAY and BIG TIME RASCAL – are newcomers but I’ll stick with this tried and tested angle.

Selections:

1 Big Time Rascal

8 The Camden Colt

9 Roubay
