The Lord Mayor and Chester Racecourse are partnering once again to bring back Chester’s
favourite fireworks night event on Saturday 6th November.
This year Chester Racecourse have pulled out all of the stops. There will be two fireworks
displays, a funfair, fire performers, LED stilt walkers and more. Find out everything you need

PLEASE NOTE: ALL TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT ARE SOLD OUT. ONLY THOSE WITH PRE-PURCHASED TICKETS WILL BE ABLE TO ENTER THE RACECOURSE. THOSE WITHOUT A TICKET ARE ADVISED NOT TO ATTEND THE RACECOURSE OR SURROUNDING AREAS, IN PARTICULAR NUNS ROAD.
What’s Happening?
The Lord Mayor and Chester Racecourse are partnering once again to bring back Chester’s
favourite fireworks night event. Sadly unable to take place in 2020, the last fireworks event
at the racecourse in 2019 was a roaring success. The event is run entirely not-for-profit in
order to raise money for charity with staff at the racecourse volunteering to work the event.
When is it?
Saturday 6th November 2021 at Chester Racecourse.
Is the event sold out?
Yes, the event is sold out and only those with pre-purchased tickets will be able to enter the
racecourse.
Can I buy tickets on the day?
Unfortunately not. The event is sold out so there will be no tickets to purchase on the day.
Where do I enter the racecourse?
Gate 3A, 4 & 5 will be in use for all ticket holders (as well as those requiring disability
access).
How can I get to the event?
We advise attendees to attend via public transport where possible. The Cheshire West &
Chester Park & Ride service will be operating as normal, find out more on the Park & Ride
website.
Drop off outside the Holiday Inn Express is permitted.
Will there be parking?
Unfortunately, there will be no parking available at the racecourse on the day. This is
because our fireworks will be stationed on the Open Course and due to health and safety,
we cannot have vehicles moving around there. There are however, a wide range of city
centre car parks as well as a park and ride service provided by Cheshire West and Chester

Can I watch from outside of the racecourse?
Those without a ticket are advised not to congregate outside of the racecourse, in particular
the Nuns Road area.
Where can I go?
The entirety of the grandstand side of the racetrack will be open to all ticketholders on the
night. Every ticketholder can move between Dee, Tattersalls and County stands freely, as
well as across the track to The White Horse car park where the funfair will be located as well
as food vendors.
Due to limited lighting, the inner paddock area of the racecourse will not be in use by the
public for health and safety reasons.
What are the times of the event?
The gates will open to the public at 5pm. The children’s fireworks display will take place at
approximately 6:45pm and the main fireworks display will begin at approximately 7:30pm.
The bars will close at 8:30pm, and the funfair and racecourse will close at 9pm.
What time is last entry?
Last entry to the racecourse is at 7.45pm
What’s on?
This year Chester Racecourse have pulled out all of the stops. There will be 2 fireworks
displays – one for children and one for adults/everyone. In addition, the racecourse will play
host to an entire funfair on The White Horse pub car park.
This year, the racecourse has also arranged a whole evening of spectacle, with fire
performers taking to the racetrack throughout the event. As well as this, there will be LED
stilt walkers to welcome our guests to the event, but keep an eye out for them for the rest
of the night as they regularly take to the stands to walk amongst the crowd. There will also
be interviews with the Lord Mayor, representatives of Share, and a radio host/MC to keep
the energy going all evening.
Will there be food & drink?
Yes, there will be a range of places serving food/drink on the night including racecourse
bars/restaurants, as well as third-party food stalls.
Will the event be COVID safe?
Yes, the event will comply with all of the latest Government COVID-19 guidelines. To protect
others, Chester Racecourse are also urging all attendees to wear face masks at the event.
Which charities are being supported?
The Lord Mayor’s Fireworks Extravaganza is a not-for-profit event, with all proceeds going to
five local charities; Chapter, Deafness Support Network, Hospice of the Good Shepherd, The
Chester Lions and Share.
Is there a dress code?
There is no dress code for the fireworks event. However, we do encourage all those
attending to dress for the elements. It is likely to be chilly and there is limited cover at the
racecourse. We encourage attendees to bring a coat/umbrella just in case.
