With summer in full swing, now is the perfect opportunity to dust off your glad rags and spend quality time with friends and family with a day at the races. The ultimate day out, whether celebrating a special occasion or a chance to catch up with the girls, the fun and excitement of a raceday can be enjoyed by everyone.
And there will be no excuse not to glam up with four racecourses across the North West hosting the greatest summer days out for everyone to enjoy, including four fabulous Ladies’ Days. There are 33 total fixtures across the North West, showcasing the range and variety of what is on offer at a raceday.
Ladies’ Days are the most colourful events of the summer, providing thrilling action on the track, a lively atmosphere as well as a memorable day outdoors. There are a range of ticket options available across the racecourses and different enclosures to choose from so whether dressing up or keeping it casual, everyone can celebrate the fashion of a Ladies’ Day.
Chester, Carlisle and Haydock Park Racecourses will all be hosting a Ladies’ Day fixture and they are all set to be a perfect occasion to get together and enjoy a fun and glamourous day out.
Chester Racecourse has two fixtures, the first taking place on Friday 8th July and then Saturday 20th August. Friday 8th July will see a Ladies & Gents evening at the racecourse, the perfect way to spend a Friday night with friends and enjoy the long summer evenings. Taking place on 20th August is the iconic Chester Racecourse Ladies’ Day. This is an opportunity for racegoers to don their finest outfits whilst sipping a glass of Champagne in the picturesque surroundings of the world’s oldest operating racecourse. The annual best dressed competition returns to ‘The Roodee’ with the most fashionable racegoer being crowned in the Parade Ring. Live music and independent food traders on the Pavilion Lawn will provide a vibrant setting for the last summer fixture of the year at Chester. Tickets start from £10 for each fixture.
The VL Aesthetics Ladies Night takes place at Carlisle Racecourse on Monday 1st August and there will be a DJ playing to make sure racegoers dance the night away with friends. For those dressing to impress, there will be the Style Awards for the best dressed fashion star and the winner will receive a £200 VL Aesthetics voucher. Tickets start from £20, and crowds can expect great action on the track as it is the only all-female jockey race meeting in the UK.
Haydock Park Racecourse’s Ladies’ Day is day two of the Rose of Lancaster Carnival, a top festival at the racecourse. The Betfred Rose of Lancaster Stakes Ladies Day is the most stylish day in the racecourse’s calendar and sees the feature race of the festival, the Rose of Lancaster Stakes. Tickets start from £15.
So, whether you’re going to show of your best dress, or relax and enjoy some amazing food and drink, everyone in the group can get involved.

Khadijah Mellah, who also features in the campaign and is the first British Muslim woman to have won a British horserace said, “Every time I attend the races it is a really special day and there is so much to experience. It is such a unique sport and I love how close you can get to the amazing racehorses. There is always such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and I can’t wait to bring my family and friends over the summer.”
Chris Hughes, TV star and ITV Racing presenter, said, “Nothing matches the thrill of a day at the races and when you add in things such as amazing music acts playing live music after racing, it makes it the ultimate summer day out.

It is Everyone’s Turf this summer with more than 400 thrilling race meetings taking place across England, Scotland and Wales and a fixture in store for everyone between 21st June and 30th September.
Racing is Britain’s second largest spectator sport and encourages racing novices, avid sports fans and families to go outside and immerse themselves in the surprise and spectacle of a raceday. Set to a soundtrack of thundering hooves or DJ tunes, going to the races offers a day in the great outdoors with world class athletes at the centre of the action.
