Chester Racecourse is delighted to announce the appointment of Eloise Quayle as the new Clerk of the Course. Eloise takes over from Andrew Tulloch and will officially join the team in the lead-up to the Boodles May Festival.

Eloise brings a wealth of experience to Chester, having previously held the role of Clerk of the Course at Windsor, Uttoxeter, and Newcastle. She will be overseeing preparations ahead of the new season, ensuring the track and facilities are in prime condition for both the Boodles May Festival and race meetings throughout the year.

During her career, Eloise has overseen several major racing highlights. She was at the helm when Trueshan won the Northumberland Plate, the highest-rated winner of the Plate in history. She also played a key role in the successful running of the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle, which saw Constitution Hill competing, as well as L’Homme Presse running in the Rehearsal Chase on the same day. Additionally, she was instrumental in Potters Corner’s victory in the Midlands National and successfully hosted the Plate meeting with the highest number of runners ever recorded.

Eloise also led the All-Weather Championships at Newcastle for the first time and was there when Brian Ellison, a Newcastle-born trainer, won the Plate for the first time with a loyal local owner. At Royal Windsor, she oversaw a fantastic season, significantly increasing the number of runners year-on-year, with a standout moment being Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Fabricate winning the Group 3 Winter Hill Stakes.

Commenting on her appointment, Eloise Quayle said:

“I’m thrilled to be joining Chester Racecourse at such an exciting time in the racing calendar. The Boodles May Festival is a highlight of the season, and I look forward to working with the team to continue delivering high standards in the unique and historic setting of Chester.”

Louise Stewart, Chief Executive of Chester Race Company, added:

“We’re delighted to welcome Eloise to the team. Her extensive experience across a range of courses will be invaluable as we prepare for the new season at Chester. We have a strong reputation for delivering exceptional racing and we look forward to Eloise bringing her expertise and passion to the role.”

Eloise will take up her position in the coming weeks as preparations begin for the highly anticipated Boodles May Festival which marks the start of the season at Chester.
