The Lord Mayor’s Fireworks Extravaganza will return to Chester Racecourse on Saturday 6 November!

After its absence in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, this fireworks night will be the first to take place at the racecourse in 2 years. Staff are extremely excited to be able to once again put on a showstopping event with something for everyone.

2019’s fireworks night at Chester Racecourse saw 8000 people visit the racecourse to enjoy the colourful displays and entertaining activities. Another 2000 people enjoyed the spectacle from the ancient walls that border the racecourse.

Attendees will get to enjoy two firework displays at Chester Racecourse. Earlier on in the evening, a special display for children will take place. Afterwards, the showstopping main display will take to the skies.

Cllr Martyn Delaney, Lord Mayor of Chester said: “It is brilliant to see the Firework event is back after its forced absence in 2020. I am sure that it will lift our spirits to be able to enjoy the colourful display while raising much needed donations for charity. I hope to see as many people as possible attend and have a safe and enjoyable evening.”

Chester Race Company Chairman, Ian O’Doherty said: “we are delighted to finally be able to host and enjoy events like this again. The 2019 Firework Extravaganza night was a roaring success – not only did everyone have a wonderful time, but we were fortunate enough to be able to raise a lot of money for charity. We’re hoping we can continue that this year.”

Chester Racecourse is uniquely pitched to provide the best fireworks display in the area. The large footprint of the racecourse provides ample room for attendees to enjoy the fireworks comfortably as well as unmatched facilities to enhance everyone’s evening. In addition, the racecourses lack of light pollution means spectators can take in the fireworks with the very best view and experience possible.

The racecourse will also be host to a number of fun activities for the whole family, as well as a range of tasty treats. More details will be announced in due course.

The Lord Mayor’s Fireworks Extravaganza is a not-for-profit event, with all proceeds going to five local charities; Chapter, Deafness Support Network, Hospice of the Good Shepherd, The Chester Lions and Share. In 2019, £15,000 from this event was donated to The Lord Mayor’s and local charities. As well as monetary support for these local charities, Chester Racecourse staff and volunteers from Share, Chester Lions and local councillors will be on hand volunteering on the night, providing assistance and help for the attending public.

Chair of the Board of Share Trustees, Debra Webb said: “we are delighted to be working with The Lord Mayor and Chester Racecourse on the Fireworks Extravaganza. We are a non-profit organisation supporting families, people and refugees who are homeless both locally and abroad. Support from local authorities, businesses and events like this enable us to continue our work.”

The Fireworks Extravaganza at Chester Racecourse is the number one place to be this November. With everything you could want for on bonfire nights, Chester Racecourse should be your first and only stop for fireworks this Autumn.

Tickets are £5 when booked in advance or £7 on the gate on the day. As usual, children under 4 are welcomed free with an accompanying adult. Gates are set to open at 5pm with the children’s fireworks display at 6:45pm and the adults fireworks display at 7:30pm*. Customers can visit www.chester-races.com to book tickets. Alternatively, tickets can be bought in person by visiting the Box Office or call them on 01244 304 610.
